A continuous presence of wine for over 2,500 years.
The famous quote by the comedian Antiphanes (4th century BC) is one of the most beautiful written evidence of the reputation that Phliassian wine had in antiquity.
"A cook from Elis, boilers from Argos, wine from Phlias , mattresses from Corinth, fish from Sikyon, and the four aulitis of Aegina..."
As you can see, for the ancient Greeks, wine from the soils of present-day Nemea was not just a good wine; it was the ultimate status symbol of a successful and wealthy table.
